Will CORE support this, or does it need to plugged into an rPi running HAOS?

It should be able to run on CORE, or any other system for that matter. Based on my understanding the radio operates in a co-op mode basically rapidly switching back and forth between protocols.
Though @markus may advise separate sticks for better reliability and response times… My gut/experience with radios says separate sticks for zigbee and thread will be the recommended way to go.
